"The long Summer days bring with them the most wonderful array of social events including Royal Ascot, one of the highlights of the year. But to me this great occasion is special for quite another reason. This is the time of year when the light is at its most glorious; with the sun blazing high in the sky, the elegantly clad women in their fabulous hats take on an almost exotic quality – like butterflies or birds of paradise. When I see them against the famous backdrop of this historic sporting venue the effect is simply irresistible, and I am soon mixing a palette of radiant pinks and luminescent whites alongside traditional lawn greens and dark browns."
