Lazy Days - Idyllic Moments Captured on Canvas
"The French impressionists were renowned for painting the effects of colour and light on their subjects rather than working with the solid shape of the object itself and this is how I like to approach each scene. For me therefore, the perfect painting day is one lit by rays of the summer sun which creates wonderful contrasts of light and shadow. Summer has become the busiest most productive season in my year as an artist but for the general population these are laziest days, and this creates a wonderful array of subjects for me. Watching an image emerge on the canvas from the dappled shadows falling on laughing figures picnicking on the grass is my idea of the perfect day."
