Test Match Special

"In 1986 I was commissioned to paint a series of very special cricket matches, the Ashes no less, by a member of the MCC. The British weather ensured that there was plenty of air time on both TV and radio when no cricket was being played and my damp and windswept figure became something of a feature on the BBC coverage."

"On one wonderful occasion my easel blew over and I banged on a nearby window to ask for assistance. The gentleman who came to my rescue was the late great Brian Johnston and, unknown to me, our entire encounter went out live on Test Match Special."
